VRC 312 was approved by the Intramural Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). U.S. Department of

Health and Human Services guidelines for conducting clinical research were followed.

The first 3 subjects/dosage group were enrolled on separate days and evaluated until one

week after second vaccination to assess safety prior to dose escalation or enrollment of
